Sometimes You Have to Recombobulate

My favorite part of the Milwaukee airport is right after you get through security.

There's a place where you can regroup and re-organize after you've taken things out of your bags to be scanned.

It's called the "Recombobulation Area"

Part of why I like it is because it's a fun word to say.

Every time I see that sign, it makes me laugh.

I guess the opposite would be discombobulation, which is why we need to recombobulate in the first place?

But I also like it because it gives me a minute to catch my breath, reorganize and just generally put things back in order.

Some trips I have a lot more to recombobulate than others.

It just depends on what's in my bags.

Sometimes we are carrying a lot of baggage, filled with things that might be a security risk and need to be examined closely.

Other times, our bags are lightly packed and we breeze right through, barely needing to stop to put anything back together.

This is true whether or not you have ever set foot in an airport or on an airplane.

Our journey in life is filled with baggage.

Stuff we carry around with us and transport from one experience to the next.

Each trip we accumulate more stuff, and our bags get cluttered and disorganized.

When that happens, it can cause us to feel anxious and out of sorts.

Life is easier when our homes, our workspaces, and our minds are in some semblance of order.

If you continue to take trips and never stop to sort out and re-organize your bags, you're going to end up with too much to carry.

Take a few minutes to assess what you really need to bring with you, remove what no longer adds value, and put things in order so you can clearly find them.

I guarantee you'll feel better afterwards.

This life is an amazing, imperfect, messy, chaotic journey.

Sometimes, along the way, you have to recombobulate.
