Keeping It Between the Lines

Some days I park like a boss.

Straight and even and right between the lines.

Other days, I'm a little bit sideways.

Depending on the day and how crooked my park job is, I'll take the time to correct it.

But if I'm in a hurry, as long as I'm not over the line, I'll just let it be.

It's hard to get it right every time!

On those rare occasions where I pull in and actually feel like I got it right, I hold my breath as I check my camera.

And give myself a silent high-five when the picture shows up like this one.

It's silly I know, but the little victories in life are worth celebrating!

Keeping it between the lines is harder than it looks.

In parking and in life.

Especially when it feels like the lines are constantly shifting.

New technology, new rules, people with different opinions and definitions of what "should be."

It can be exhausting. And a real challenge to feel like you are getting anything right.

I try to remind myself that there is always a little bit of wiggle room.

Even the tightest of parking spots has a few inches of give on either side.

It's important that we don't get too hung up on being perfectly straight.

And that we take the time to acknowledge and give ourselves credit for all of the things that we do well every day.

We should be especially proud of the times when we keep it between the lines, even when life is hard and we feel like giving up.

When we're nearly out of gas and pulling into that spot running on fumes.

That's when we should celebrate the most.

Because we made it.

Even if we are slightly crooked, we're still between the lines.

And that's all that matters.
