Choose Joy

I've been writing this blog for over 7 years now.

After so much time, themes have started to emerge across my posts.
My second book was especially fun to write because I spent time re-reading my posts and sharing those themes with the world.
I titled it "Ordinary Moments... Extraordinary Life"
I truly believe that is what we are living.
A life full of ordinary moments.
Moments that make it quite extraordinary.
But we have to choose to see them that way. To find the joy in them.
And to appreciate the good in every day.
I'm concerned about the level of fear and anxiety in the world right now.
Most of it stems from things we can't change, control, or even be sure will happen.
There's too much negativity in the media and our social networks.
Even in our homes, and when we visit with friends and family.
It hurts my heart.
If we live in a state of fear, our vision is clouded and we lose sight of the good things in life.
It's harder to see the parts we have control over, and the joy the simple moments can bring.
I believe that is where our power lies.
In the choices we make.
To live our lives as positively as possible and encourage others to do the same.
To appreciate the quiet mornings with a hot cup of coffee and a cat (or dog) on our lap.
To breathe deeply and feel the warmth of the sun on our faces.
To look around us and be proud of where we are and how far we've come.
To not spread fear or encourage negativity.
To feel the joy that simple moments can bring.
I write a lot in this blog about how our choices influence our path in life.
That's the very essence of it.
Every choice we make shapes who we are and how we feel.
The good ones create good feelings and the bad...well, you know.
It's pretty simple actually.
So I encourage you all to choose wisely today, and every day.
And choose joy.
