A Different Kind of Busy

I've never been one to sit still for very long.

There's just something ingrained in me that pushes me to move.

Sometimes out of necessity for things like work and responsibilities - stuff I "have" to do.

And sometimes because there are so many fun things that I want to spend my time doing.

The past couple of months have been a blur - filled with road trips, track championships, birthdays, graduations and family vacation fun.

It was so busy!

Like a waterfall, rushing over us.

But it was also a different kind of busy.

The kind that makes me smile and feel grateful for all of the wonderful people in my life.

The kind that brings a tear to my eye as I watch my boys, so grown up now, laughing and talking to their family as adults, with hopes and dreams to share.

The kind that makes me tired, but in the very best way.

We go through stages in life where the busy isn't much fun.

When we have little children to care for and chase after - trying our best to keep them out of danger.

When we are grinding away at work, trying to build a career to support our family.

Even when we are doing all of the things we need to do to establish a home and take care of the logistics of life.

That busy is hard. It's exhausting, mentally, physically and emotionally.

But then life starts to shift.

As we get older, as the years go by and there is more experience under our belt, the busy starts to become different.

We have more perspective, can see things more clearly.

We stress less about the little stuff.

And care more about spending time doing the things that bring us joy.

With the people who fill our hearts and souls.

I'm so grateful to be at that place in life now.

Where I can fall asleep at night and smile as I look back at all of the adventures I've had.

Where the busy is different.

In such a wonderful way.
