Sunsets

I love a beautiful sunset.
No matter where I am, if I see one, I always have to stop and take a picture.
I have hundreds of pictures of sunsets that I've taken over the years.
From all different vantage points.
Sunsets over lakes
Sunsets on mountains
Sunsets at the ballpark and the football field
Sunsets at stoplights and stop signs
Sunsets on walks
Sunsets from my driveway
There's just something about them that speaks to me.
Maybe it's the colors that show up so vividly. The oranges and yellows, reds and purples. And the way they change as the sun drops further in the sky.
Or maybe it's the way they make me feel.
On the really good days that I don't want to end, sunsets can make me just a little bit sad.
But on the tough days, sunsets give me hope.
They signal the closing of the chapter or event that challenged me, and remind me that tomorrow is a new day.
A new day to learn and grow and make different choices.
An opportunity to reinvent myself and forge a new path.
That's the beautiful part of life, you know.
The fact that every day, we can become better versions of ourselves.
We're having a very long, very tough day right now.
When the sun finally sets and signals the end of it, I believe it's going to be a sunset like we've never seen before.
It's going to take a lot of us striving to be better than we were during this difficult time, but I know we can do it.
I know we can be more kind.
I know we can be more accepting.
I know we can find a way to respect each other.
I know we can stop the violence and the hate.
I'll keep doing my part to share positivity and encouragement with as many people as I can reach in my little corner of the world.
And when we finally get there, I'll have my camera ready.
