It's a Beautiful Day to Start Again

Once a month, I travel to the Green Bay area for work.

Near the hotel where I stay, there's a beautiful church with a steeple that peeks out beyond the building next door.

I take a picture every trip because I love the way it looks against the sky.

Sometimes I take it in the evening with the colors of the setting sun behind it.

Other days, it's the first pic I take in the morning just before I get into my car to drive to the office.

Those morning pics are some of my favorite.

They remind me that every day is a new day.

That no matter what happened the day before, it's a beautiful day to start again.

We all have really hard days.

Where we make bad choices.

Where we screw things up.

Where we miss out on an opportunity.

On those really hard days, we can get so down on life.

Spend too much time beating ourselves up or being stressed and anxious.

Get caught up in the drama and say things we shouldn't.

Those days are hard. But that's all they are.

Just days.

Moments in our lives that are part of our journey.

Next year, I'll have lived on this earth for 50 years.

Half a lifetime, if I'm lucky.

And in that time, I've had my share of those bad days.

But the older I get, the more I'm grateful for them.

For the lessons they've taught me. And the strength I've gained from them.

I know now that, no matter how hard today might be, I get to try again tomorrow.

I can take what I've learned from today and use it to start over and be better.

And so can you.

We all can.

Don't linger on the things you can't change that happened today.

You don't have to be defined by them.

Wake up tomorrow knowing that you can make different choices.

You can try a little bit harder, seize that opportunity that you missed out on today, and make it a day that changes the rest of your life.

I know you have it in you.

It's a beautiful day to start again.
