Are We Focusing on the Right Things?

It was a gorgeous day along Lake Michigan.
We were just about to start our run, and I wanted to snap a quick picture of the Hoan Bridge in the sunshine before we did.
I took out my phone, opened up the camera, put it in portrait mode and clicked the button.
The picture that came out wasn't exactly what I was expecting.
But it was interesting.
The camera had put the focus on my finger, which I had accidentally put in front of the lens.
The bridge faded into the background.
I almost deleted it, but then thought maybe I'd keep it.
Because, as I often say, "There's a blog post in there somewhere."
This morning, I came across that picture when searching my photos.
It made me think about focus.
And whether I've been focusing on the right things.
That's a tough question for us to answer.
Because one person's right things aren't the same as someone else's.
But I think in our guts we know.
If we really sit down and think about where we've been spending our time, our money, our mindshare...
Are we focusing on things that make us feel good, help us stay as healthy as possible, and add value to our lives and those around us?
Or is our finger in the way of the figurative camera lens?
The good news is that this is in our control to change.
If your time has been spent focusing on things that drain you, maybe it's time to refocus.
Move your finger (or whatever roadblock you're up against) out of the way and retake the picture.

And watch the world around you become clear again.
